In October of last year, the scrap metal company received a notice of infringement. The warning forewarned the company that enforcement action would follow any subsequent transactions made without the required paperwork. Nevertheless, even after its license expired on May 1, 2024, the business carried on with its operations.

The company bought 2,591 detached catalytic converters in total, even after the license had expired. Using a civil penalty of $1,000 for each infraction, the total comes to $2,588,000. The company must pay the entire amount within the following 30 days in accordance with the violation notice of November 13, 2024.

Additionally, the notice forbids the dealer and its owners from ever submitting an application for or receiving a license to function in the State of Indiana as operators or dealers in comparable capacities.
