SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A new plastics recycling facility was inaugurated in India. The facility is considered as one of the largest plastics recycling facilities in the region.
It spans over 3 acres at JN Pharmacity, Paravada in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and is capable of processing one million tonnes of plastic waste per hour. The plant, established by Ramkay Enviro Engineers Limited (REEL) will process both industrial and domestic plastic waste. It houses world-class recycling infrastructure and employs latest recycling technologies.

The new plastics recycling facility will be able to pre-process and up-cycle all types of flexible and rigid plastics from both industrial as well as domestic sources high-quality recycled plastic granules, which will be used for manufacturing plastic products and packaging.
The facility is expected to address the menace of plastic pollution in the region. In fact, illegal dumping and mishandled plastic waste has been a cause of serious environmental pollution and health problems.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Satheesh Cheeti, CEO, REEL noted that the country generates nearly 9.46 million tonnes of plastic waste every year, out of which almost 40% remains unprocessed.
