SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The gem & jewellery industry trade body launched new program to help retailers showcase and sell their inventory using digital platform. The new initiative named ‘StayInTouch’ aims to tap the potentials of online sales, especially to small-enterprise retailers.
The program, designed by iLoveDiamonds.com, offers technology and marketing services to retailers at a cost of INR 6,000 per month. This honorary service will be available for a period of six months, aimed at providing necessary support to the jewellery industry during the crisis situation. The program mainly targets family-run retailers, who account for nearly 96% of the industry players.
Every participating retailer will be offered a dedicated page. The consumers could then access the retailer’s store showcasing the inventory that each jeweller has in store and select the product of thier choice. The portal will be of great help to jewellery shops that don’t own websites.

Speaking at the launch of the program, N Anantha Padmanaban, Chairman, All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) reminded that the move is based on the realization that the future is going to be digital, especially in the current situation, where trade expects at least six to twelve months for return of normalcy in offline jewellery sales.
