SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Hydro announced that Hydro Precision Tubing Reynosa in Mexico has been certified according to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard. It has become the company’s first North American plant to be ASI-certified. The plant, which began operations in 2006, primarily offers aluminum heat exchange solutions to customers in the automotive and HVACR industries.
The ASI Performance Standard recognizes the responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The certification of the Renosa plant covers the plant’s extrusion operations as well as its fabrication activities. The plant, located on the southern bank of the Rio Grande River, employs nearly 320 people. The plant has undergone several expansion projects since its opening in 2006.
Commenting on the achievement, Jeffrey L. Insalaco, Vice President- North America aluminum tubing business for Hydro said that the path to certification reflects very strong collaboration between its local organization and the support from Hydro Extrusions, which is also part of Norway-based Hydro Group. Besides delivering improvement to its stewardship, the certification will also offer immense benefits to its valued customers, Insalaco added.
