SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Greenpeace- the non-governmental environmental organization has announced launch of a new campaign that recreates locations in Chile to highlight the danger of plastic pollution. It must be noted that Chile produces highest volumes of plastic among South American countries. Moreover, the country has the lowest recycling rate of 10%.
Greenpeace has joined hands with creative agency Cheil to launch a new campaign called ‘The Nature of Plastic’. The campaign re-imagines five of Chilean locations- Easter Island, the Atacama desert, El Plomo mountain, the El Morado glacier, and Araucania forest. It aims to highlight the problems caused by plastics to the environment and motivate consumers to bring about changes in their behaviour so as to reduce plastic waste.
The campaign will be run on billboards, in magazines and on digital platforms for a period of four weeks between March and April this year.
Mariana Peluffo, regional creative director at Cheil Central America noted that the stunning visual campaign could effectively reflect what plastic pollution is doing to nature. Meantime, Soledad Acuña, project leader at Greenpeace stated that immediate action is needed to stop the spread of plastic.
