SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Graphic Packaging International (GPI) global research and innovation center in Louisville announced major expansion in support of strategic growth initiatives including efforts to substitute plastic with sustainable alternative materials. The company’s innovative solutions make use of renewable and recyclable paperboard.
The company press release states that the footprint of the research and development centre was expanded by over 30%. The expanded centre is now capable to perform trials, develop prototypes and host seminars. The fully-equipped centre is also capable of conducting all modern structural and performance testing for new packaging solutions.

Ricardo De Genova, senior vice president of global innovation and new business development, Graphic Packaging said that the expansion demonstrates the company’s commitment to the discovery and support of new packaging concepts that are extremely safe for the environment. The team is focused on ensuring highest environmental performance, he added.
In related news, GPI has been named to Newsweek’s 2021 list of ‘America’s Most Responsible Companies’, in recognition of its highest ESG standards. The company has been ranked 208 in the list.
