E-Waste Recycler Declares Big Investment to Boost CRT Processing Capacity

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Trial, B.C.-headquartered KC Recycling announced investment at its facility aimed at doubling the volume of cathode ray tubes (CRTs) it processes. With the proposed investment, the company which has emerged as the major processor of CRT glass generated in western Canada and the Pacific Northwest aims to tap the glass market in eastern Canada.

According to Pete Stamper, CEO of KC Recycling, the company currently processes around 8,000 tons of glass per year. The expansion will add additional 6,000 to 8,000 tons from eastern Canada, thus bringing the annual processing capacity to nearly 15,0000 tons. The expansion will add additional shift to the production schedule, which in turn will create new jobs in the region. The investment wil expand its operations to serve all of Canada, Stamper said.

As part of the expansion, the company plans to install a large silo and automated conveyor, which will enable easy movement of processed glass to a convenient location before being loaded on to containers. The new system will ensure more efficient and safer operations. It must be noted that the company shifts the glass in bins with the help of forklift.
