DS Smith Honored with the Highest Recognition in the Packaging Industry

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith announced that its Slovenian design team has won the highest recognition in the packaging industry.

The award was won by "Protection for Car Wheel Carriers" packaging solution designed by Miha Toplisek. The packaging solution enables the packaging of heavier industrial products. The innovative packaging solution is made using renewable materials and it offers flexibility to reuse or recycle after use. The optimum space utilisation makes the product unique, said the company press release.

Two of the company’s innovative designs that replace plastic materials with sustainable alternatives were featured in the top five nominees of the Slovenian Packaging Oscar. This reaffirms DS Smith Slovenia’s leading role in designing and developing environmentally friendly packaging solutions using renewable materials. Apart from the award winning entry, the other packaging solution to be nominated was the "Universal Protection for Household Blenders" designed by Miha Krnc.

Gabriel Balogh, Managing Director of DS Smith Slovenia stated that the company is proud to have two packaging solutions among the top five Oscar nominees. This proves that the company is on the right path in developing sustainable packaging from renewable sources, he added.
