SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith announced that the investment in innovative technology at its Kemsley mill has significantly reduced power consumption by its paper machines.
The company had partnered with Runtech Systems to ensure power-efficiency during production process. Also, it has replaced liquid ring pumps with RunEco paper machine vacuum system. The investments have cut power consumption of paper machine PM3 by nearly two-thirds, translating to annual power savings of around 1,500 kw. Also, it anticipates power savings of around 2,600 kw per year from PM6.
The investment in EP600 Turbo Blowers to PM3 has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by around 5,000 tonnes per annum. It also allows the machine to run faster, thus delivering increased output. Moreover, the Turbo Blowers operate completely water-free. All these features guarantee a long, sustainable and commercially successful future for the mill.
