SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Defunkify- the leading household cleaning products company announced that it has removed 41,571 pounds of plastic waste in West Java, Indonesia, that would have otherwise been incinerated, ended up in landfills or leaked into the oceans and waterways.
The company had formed a partnership with rePurpose to make use of the services of marginalized workers to help them in tackling plastic paollution in communities. Consequently, the company has helped there workers earn additional income. In addition, the efforts by the company have also supported Waste4Change-a recycling social enterprise that targets holistic upliftment of waste workers.

Defunkify has always given top priority to minimize and eliminate plastic packaging so as to ensure a better, cleaner future. It uses polyethylene bottles made with 25% post-consumer recycled material and FSC-certified recyclable paper cartons to pack its products. Moreover, it plans to launch a new packaging system that would eliminate all plastic trash from the cleaning and personal care industries.
Richard Geiger, CEO, Defunkify said that the company is proud to have funded the recovery of such a large volume of plastic from nature. It plans to take the efforts one step further in 2022, he added.
