SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (February 28 to March 6, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.
The copper scrap prices in the region recorded increase across the board.
The biggest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Harness Wire 35% Recovery, whose prices edged higher by 6.83% from $1.61 per Lb to $1.72 per Lb. The weekly price movement for Harness Wire 35% Recovery scrap is shown in the below graph:
The other copper scrap varieties to record notable increase in prices include #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, which recorded weekly jump in prices by 6.4% and 6.29% respectively.
The prices of Romex Wire, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, and #3 Copper- Light Copper were up by 5.85%, 5.82% and 5.34% respectively.
Also, the prices of all other copper scrap commodities in the region recorded increase over the prior week.
The prices of all copper scrap categories witnessed significant jump in the region. Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices posted the biggest increase over the week, recording jump of 6.83% from $1.61 per Lb to $1.72 per Lb.
#2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices were up by 6.40% over the week, rising from $1.72 per Lb to $1.83 per Lb.

A significant increase in prices were seen in Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Romex Wire, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, and #3 Copper- Light Copper.
The other scrap copper categories that recorded noteworthy increase in prices included #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, Starters, and Alternators.
The least jump in prices was seen in Cu Yokes, whose prices edged higher by 2.15%.
The copper scrap prices in the region recorded increase across the board.
The biggest jump in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Harness Wire 35% Recovery, whose prices edged higher from $1.60 per Lb to $1.71 per Lb, recording week-on-week increase of 6.87%.
The other copper scrap varieties to record notable decline in prices include #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe. #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices surged by 6.43% during the week. The Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices were up from $1.57 per Lb to $1.67 per Lb, recording a jump of 6.37%.
A notable increase in prices were seen in Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Romex Wire, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, and #3 Copper- Light Copper.
The rest of the regional copper scrap categories reported week-on-week jump in prces.
The copper scrap metal prices in the region witnessed noticeable jump week-on-week.
The scrap categories to record biggest increase in prices from the previous week were Harness Wire 35% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe.
Also, Romex Wire, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators, and #3 Copper- Light Copper, recorded modest positive price variation during the week.
The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, Sealed Units, and Starters also increased.
Meanwhile, marginal week-on-week increase in prices was reported in Xmas Lights, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, and Cu Yokes.
All copper scrap categories in the region witnessed weekly price increases.
#2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded the biggest jump in prices during the previous week.
The #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices edged higher from CNY 71,000 per MT to CNY 72,450 per MT each.
The weekly price chart of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing is provided below:
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery reported increase in prices by CNY 750 per MT, from CNY 37,200 per MT during the start of the week to end at $37,950 per MT.
#1 Copper Wire and Tubing also reported 2.01% jump in prices over the week.
In the meantime, #1 Copper Bare Bright, Heater Cores, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Cu Yokes, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Copper Transformer Scrap, Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units prices also recorded marginal jump on the Index.
The scrap commodities in Indian market saw their prices edge higher over the prior week.
The copper sheet cutting scrap prices were up by INR 23,000 per ton over the previous week to close at INR 453,000 per ton on March 6, 2025 on the Scrap Monster Index. The weekly chart of the commodity is provided below:
The prices of Copper Armature, Copper cable scrap, Copper heavy scrap, Copper utensil scrap and Copper wire bars also increased during the week ended March 6, 2025.
The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators and Copper Tubes held steady during the course of the week.

Meantime, the closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,647.00 per tonne as on March 6, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract prices increased marginally from $9,541.00 a day before to $9,654.00 per tonne.
The LME Copper stocks saw modest decline over the previous day to close at 259,175 tonnes on March 6, 2025, as compared with 260,150 tonnes on March 5, 2025.
