SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (March 21 to March 27, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.
The copper scrap prices in the region recorded mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities held steady, while the remaining edged higher from prior week’s price levels.
The biggest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, whose prices edged higher from $1.79 per Lb to $1.84 per Lb. The other copper scrap varieties to record notable jump in prices include Cu/Al Radiators and Harness Wire 35% Recovery, which recorded price increases by 2.50% and 0.54% respectively.

The other copper scrap categories to witness jump in prices were #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, and Romex Wire. The #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices registered a week-on-week increase by 0.51%. Also, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up by 0.47% from $2.14 per Lb at the beginning of the week to close the week at $2.15 per Lb. A similar jump of 0.47% was seen in Romex Wire prices as well.
The rest of the copper scrap categories held steady on the Index during the week ended March 27, 2025.
The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed no change in the region. Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices posted the biggest increase over the week.
The prices of Cu/Al Radiators and Harness Wire 35% Recovery too recorded jump over the week. The other scrap commodities whose prices witnessed week-on-week increase during the week included #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, and Romex Wire.

Meanwhile, the prices of all other commodities were flat on the Index.
The copper scrap prices in the region witnessed mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities remained constant.
The largest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, whose prices edged higher from $1.77 per Lb to $1.82 per Lb.
The other copper scrap varieties to record notable jump in prices include Cu/Al Radiators and Harness Wire 35% Recovery, which recorded price increases by 2.53% and 0.54% respectively.
The #2 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up from $1.96 per Lb to $1.97 per Lb during the course of the week. Also, Romex Wire and #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices inched higher by 0.48% and 0.47% respectively during the week ended March 27, 2025.

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright, Alternator, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, Copper Radiators, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters, Xmas Lights, and Cu/Al Radiator Ends held steady over the previous week.
The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed no change in the region. However, a few reported increase over the previous week.
Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices posted the biggest increase over the week.
The prices of Cu/Al Radiators and Harness Wire 35% Recovery too increased modestly over the week.
The other copper scrap categories to witness increase in prices were #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery and Romex Wire.
The #1 Copper Bare Bright, Alternator, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, Copper Radiators, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters, Xmas Lights, and Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices were flat over the previous week.
The copper scrap prices recorded increase over the previous week.
The Heater Cores prices recorded a jump, rising from the previous week’s prices by 1.24% as of March 27, 2025. The price of the commodity ended the week at CNY 32,600 per MT. The weekly price chart of the commodity for the week ending March 27, 2025 is given below:
#2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices edged higher by 1.20% week-on-week to close at CNY 75,850 per MT during the week.
The prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing also were up by 1.18%, when compared with the week before.
All the other commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Cu Yokes, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Copper Transformer Scrap, Sealed Units, and Scrap Electric Motors also reported marginal increase in prices on the Index.
The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded increase, upon comparison with the previous week.
The Copper sheet cutting prices recorded the biggest jump, with the prices of the commodity recording increase by 0.43%. The prices of the commodity edged higher from INR 466,000 per Ton to INR 468,000 per Ton. The weekly chart depicting the price movement in Copper sheet cutting is provided below:
The prices of Copper armeture, Copper cable scrap, Copper heavy scrap, Copper utensil scrap and Copper wire bars (HCL *) edged higher on the Index during the week ended March 27, 2025.
The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators and Copper Tubes held steady during the course of the week.
The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,847 per tonne as of March 27, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract prices decreased marginally from $9,884.00 a day before to $9,787.00 per tonne.
The LME Copper stocks saw marginal decline over the previous day to close at 215,275 tonnes of March 27, 2025, when compared with 216,750 tonnes a day before.
