SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (February 21 to February 27, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.
The copper scrap prices in the region recorded mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities edged higher, while the remaining maintained prior week’s price levels.
The biggest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Xmas Lights, whose prices edged higher by 3.57% from $0.28 per Lb to $0.29 per Lb. The other copper scrap varieties to record notable increase in prices include Sealed Units and Starters, which recorded price increases by 2.56% and 2.50% respectively.

The other copper scrap categories to witness jump in prices include #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Copper Radiators, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romex Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Alternator, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes and Scrap Electric Motors.
The rest of the copper scrap categories held steady on the Index during the week ended February 27, 2025.
The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed notable jump in the region. Xmas Lights prices posted the biggest increase over the week.
The prices of Sealed Units and Starters too increased significantly over the week.

Also, the prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Copper Radiators, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romex Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Alternator, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes and Scrap Electric Motors recorded increase as of the week ended February 27, 2025.
Meanwhile, Cu/Al Radiators, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe held steady over the previous week.

The prices of a few copper scrap commodities recorded decline over the previous week. On the other hand, the rest of the commodities held steady on the Index.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices edged lower by 0.27% week-on-week to close at CNY 37,300 per MT during the week.
The prices of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery also were down by 0.20%, when compared with the week before.
The Cu/Al Radiators prices recorded decline, falling from the previous week by 0.19% as of February 27, 2025. The weekly price chart of the commodity for the week ending February 27, 2025 is given below:
The other commodities to record decline in prices include #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing.
All the other commodities such as Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units held steady on the Index.
The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded decline, upon comparison with the previous week.
The Copper sheet cutting prices recorded week-on-week decline by 0.69%.
The copper heavy scrap and copper armeture scrap prices recorded decline, with the prices of both commodities recording decline by 0.36%. The weekly chart depicting the price movement in Copper armeture is provided below:
The prices of copper cable scrap and copper utensil scrap also inched lower on the Scrap Monster Index by 0.35% each.
Also, the prices of Copper wire bars (HCL *) decreased by 0.35% during the week ending February 27, 2025.
The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators and Copper Tubes held steady during the course of the week.
The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,415.50 per tonne as of February 27, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract prices decreased marginally from $9,504.00 a day before to $9,415.50 per tonne.
The LME Copper stocks saw marginal decline over the previous day to close at 263,650 tonnes of February 27, 2025, when compared with 265,025 tonnes a day before.
