Copper Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- April 4, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (March 28 to April 3, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.

North America Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region displayed mixed trend.

All of the scrap varieties declined over the previous week, while Cu/Al Radiator Ends alone held steady.

Xmas Lights saw the largest price decrease over the previous week, going down from $0.32 per pound to $0.30 per pound.

The weekly price movement for Xmas Lights is shown in the below graph:

 

The other copper scrap varieties to record notable decline in prices include #3 Copper- Light Copper, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #1 Copper Bare Bright.

The prices of Alternator, Copper Transformer Scrap, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters, Cu Yokes, and Harness Wire 35% Recovery also witnessed decline over the previous week.

Also, Cu/Al Radiators, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wire, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, and Copper Radiators prices edged lower on the Index.

USA East Coast Prices

The majority of copper scrap categories recorded decline in the region. The largest decline was seen in Xmas Lights, whose prices were down by 3.39% over the week. The prices of #3 Copper- Light Copper and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also were down by 6.01% and 5.88% respectively.

The least decline in prices was recorded in Cu/Al Radiators. The prices of the commodity edged lower by 1.95%, falling from $1.84 per Lb at the start of the week to end the week at $1.80 per Lb. The below chart displays the variation in prices of Cu/Al Radiators over the previous week:

 

The Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices recorded no variation week-on-week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $0.62 per Lb.

USA Midwest Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region displayed mixed trend over the previous week.

The top three losers were Xmas Lights, #3 Copper- Light Copper and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing.

The Xmas Lights prices ended the week at $0.29 per Lb, down from the previous week’s price of $0.31 per Lb. Also, #3 Copper- Light Copper and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices declined over the previous week to close at $4.28 per Lb and $4.38 per Lb respectively.

The other copper scrap varieties to record decline in prices include #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, Alternator, Copper Transformer Scrap, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters, Cu Yokes, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wire, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, and Copper Radiators.

Meanwhile, Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices were flat on the Index.

USA West Coast Prices

All copper scrap categories, except Cu/Al Radiator Ends, recorded decline in the region. The largest decline was seen in #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, whose prices were down by 7.11% over the week. The prices of Xmas Lights and #3 Copper- Light Copper also were down by 6.25% and 5.91% respectively.

The least decline in prices was recorded in Cu/Al Radiators. The prices of the commodity edged lower by 1.93%, falling from $2.07 per Lb at the start of the week to end the week at $2.03 per Lb.

The Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices recorded no variation week-on-week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $0.63 per Lb. The below chart displays the variation in prices of Cu/Al Radiator Ends over the previous week:

 

China Prices

All copper scrap categories in the region witnessed weekly price declines.

#2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded the biggest decline in prices during the previous week. The prices recorded week-on-week decline by 2.07%, falling from CNY 74,750 per MT to CNY 73,200 MT.

The #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing edged lower by 2.05% each.

In the meantime, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, and Heater Cores prices recorded decline.

 

India Prices

The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded no change from the previous week's price levels.

The copper sheet cutting prices held steady at INR 456,000 per Ton over the prior week. The weekly chart of the commodity is provided below:

 

The prices of Copper Armature, Copper cable scrap, Copper heavy scrap, Copper sheet cutting, Copper utensil scrap, and Copper wire bars (HCL*) too were flat during the week ending April 3, 2025.

Europe Prices

The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators, and Copper Tubes were steady during the course of the week.

 

LME Copper Market Update

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,442.00 per tonne as of April 3, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract inched lower modestly from $9,646.00 a day before to $9,397.00 per tonne.

The LME Copper stocks declined marginally over the previous day to close at 210,450 tonnes as of April 3, 2025, when compared with 211,875 tonnes a day before.
