SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (26th July, 2024 to 1st August, 2024) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.
The copper scrap prices in the region displayed mixed trend.
The biggest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, whose prices edged higher from $1.47 per Lb to $1.49 per Lb.
The other copper scrap varieties to record notable increase in prices include Cu/Al Radiators and Copper Radiators, which recorded price surges by 1.19% and 0.42% respectively.

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #3 Copper-Light Copper recorded decline on Scrap Monster Index.
The prices of all other categories held steady on Index.
The prices of most copper scrap categories were flat over the previous week. Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices recorded biggest increase over the week, recording surge from $1.47 per Lb to $1.49 per Lb. A modest surge by 1.19% and 0.42% was seen in Cu/Al Radiators and Copper Radiators respectively over the week.

The scrap copper categories that recorded nominal decline in prices included #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #3 Copper-Light Copper.
Meantime, all other scrap varieties held steady over the week.
The copper scrap prices in the region mostly held steady over the previous week.
The top three gainers were Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Cu/Al Radiators and Copper Radiators.
The Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices ended the week at $1.47 per Lb, up from the previous week price of $1.45 per Lb. Also, Cu/Al Radiators and Copper Radiators prices increased over the previous week to close at $1.68 per Lb and $2.40 per Lb respectively.
The prices of Alternator, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wires, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters, Xmas Lights and Cu/Al Radiators Ends were flat on Index.
The copper scrap metal prices in the region was a mixed bag, with prices of most categories holding on to their previous week’s prices. However a few copper scrap categories recorded increase in prices. Meantime, some categories saw their prices drop from the previous week.
The scrap category to fall the most was #3 Copper- Light Copper, whose prices recorded decline from $3.73 per Lb at the start of the week to $3.69 per Lb towards the end of the week. It was followed by #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, which recorded price declines by 1.04% and 1.02% respectively.
Meantime, the prices of Xmas Lights, Starters, Sealed Units, Scrap Electric Motors, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu Yokes, Copper Transformer Scrap, Alternators and Cu/Al Radiators remained unchanged on Index.
Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Cu/Al Radiators and Copper Radiators prices edged higher when compared with the prior week.
All other categories held steady on Index.
The prices of all copper scrap categories witnessed weekly price increase, upon comparison with the prior week.
Heater Cores, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded sharpest increase during the previous week.
The Heater Cores prices edged higher from CNY 29,850 per MT to CNY 30,150 per MT each.

#2 Copper Wire and Tubing reported surge in prices by CNY 650 per MT, from CNY 68,000 per MT during the start of the week to end the week at $68,650 per MT.
#1 Copper Wire and Tubing too reported 0.94% increase in prices over the week.
Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Cu Yokes recorded the least decline in prices over the week. The prices of the commodities inched higher by 0.29% each over the week.
The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded increase from previous week price levels.
The copper sheet cutting prices surged higher by INR 6,000 per Ton to INR 467,000 per Ton over the prior week. The weekly chart of the commodity is provided below:
The prices of Copper Armature, Copper cable scrap, Copper heavy scrap, Copper sheet cutting, Copper utensil scrap and Copper wire bars (HCL*) too witnessed modest increase during the week ended 1st August, 2024.
The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators and Copper Tubes were stable during the course of the week.

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,127.00 per tonne as on 1st August, 2024. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract inched lower marginally from $9,014.50 a day before to $8,998.00 per tonne.
The LME Copper stocks surged over the previous day to close at 245,150 tonnes on 1st August, 2024, as compared with 239,275 tonnes on 31st July, 2024.
