SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Coca-Cola Nigeria and its bottling partner Nigerian Bottling Company reiterated its commitment to uphold its sustainability commitments by continuing to support plastic recovery and recycling initiatives. The announcement came on the sidelines of the World Environment Day celebrations.
Earlier in 2018, the company had launched the innovative ‘World Without Waste’ initiative, aimed at collecting and recycling the equivalent of 100% of its packaging by 2030. The company noted that this year’s World Environment Day theme, ‘Time for Nature’ is very much in line with the above initiative.

By 2030, the company aims to collect a bottle for every bottle or can that is sold through the Coca-Cola system. The company will partner with local communities and other stakeholders to address key issues including litter and marine debris. In addition, the bottles from the company will have average 50% recycled content by 2030. Incidentally, the glass bottles and PET bottles of Coca-Cola Nigeria are 100% recyclable.
Onyemelukwe Nwamaka, Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Manager, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited reiterated that the company will continue to be role model in efforts to promote sustainability and recyclability. He invited other companies to join the revolutionary initiative.
