SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Clearwater Paper Corporation announced its decision to invest approximately $23 million in a new state-of-the-art facial tissue converting line at its Shelby, North Carolina facility. The facility employs around 600 people and manufactures various high-quality branded products such as bathroom tissue, paper towels, napkins, and facial tissue.
Commenting on the investment, Michael Urlick, senior vice president of consumer products at Clearwater Paper said that the company selected its Shelby facility for its newest facial tissue line, primarily due to its proximity to its customers, presence of a growing local skilled workforce and its continued excellent working relationships with the City of Shelby. The investment will enable the company to meet growing customer demand. Furthermore, it will result in further optimization of its network, thereby helping to deliver outstanding quality and service to customers, he added.
Earlier in May 2024, the company had announced successful completion of its strategic acquisition of the Augusta, Georgia bleached paperboard manufacturing facility from Graphic Packaging International, LLC., thus enhancing its existing capabilities in paperboard manufacturing.
