SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Clark County commissioners have introduced an ordinance aimed at curbing copper wire theft by imposing harsher penalties on those attempting to purchase stolen copper or other scrap metal.
A public hearing on the proposed ordinance is scheduled for November 19.
The ordinance seeks to implement changes designed to deter copper wire theft, a persistent issue in the area.
Under the new ordinance, individuals found violating the regulations could face a minimum fine of $500 for the first offense, with fines increasing to $1,000 for each subsequent violation.
