SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Cascades, Inc., the leading manufacturer of packaging and tissue products, announced strategic repositioning of its containerboard platform in Ontario. The move is part of the company’s ongoing global optimization initiatives. Accordingly, it has decided to close its Etobicoke, Ontario containerboard packaging facility no later than 31st August, 2021.
According to company press release, the property will now be put up for sale. It will take all efforts to minimize the impact of this decision, which is feared to affect nearly 125 employees at the facility. Meantime, the decision will not impact the activities at Recovery+ facility and offices located in Etobicoke.

Charles Malo, President and Chief Operating Officer of Cascades Containerboard Packaging declared that the move is an integral part of its strategic plan to optimize its operational platform in Ontario. The production from the Etobicoke facility will be gradually redeployed to its other units within the region. The decision will reinforce Cascade’s operational positioning for mid and long term success, he added. Furthermore, he thanked its employees for their dedication and loyal service over the past several years.
