SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canfor Pulp Products Inc. announced its decision to extend the curtailment of BCTMP production at Taylor Pulp for a period of at least six weeks. The decision is on account of high finished products inventories at the pulp mill due to ongoing transportation shortages.
Announcing the decision, Kevin Anderson, Vice President- Operations, Canfor Pulp noted that there has been no improvement in ongoing rail transportation situation. Consequently, the company has no choice, but to extend the current production curtailment, he said. Furthermore, he expressed disappointment over the ongoing impact of the decision on its employees, their families and communities.

Also, Canfor Corporation announced that it plans to implement reduced operating schedules at its Western Canadian sawmills effective April 4, 2022. The decision is mainly attributed to the cumulative effects of the extended unprecedented global supply chain crisis. The reduced operating schedules will remain in effect for a minimum of four weeks. The company will continue to assess and make adjustments to operating schedules in case of any improvement in supply chain conditions.
Meantime, Don Kayne, President and CEO, Canfor said that the company will continue to leverage its global operating platform to minimize supply disruptions to its customers.
