SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canfor Pulp Products Inc. announced temporary production curtailments at B.C. mills in response to serious transportation disruptions, The decision is likely to impact production of NBSK and BCTMP at its Northwood Pulp and Taylor Pulp mills.
According to company press release, the NBSK production at Northwood Pulp will be curtailed for a period of two weeks, whereas the BCTMP production at Taylor Pulp will remain curtailed for a period of four weeks.

The recent weather-related transportation interruptions have led to notable decline in Canfor’s pulp shipments. The pulp inventories have almost neared capacity. The pulp production will be reduced until the B.C. transportation network returns to more normal operating conditions.
Don Kayne, Chief Executive Officer, Canfor Pulp noted that the rail and highway networks have been substantially impacted due to extreme rainfall and flooding in the province during recent weeks. He commended the efforts of its employees in mitigating the impacts of the supply chain challenges. The curtailment measures are aimed at reducing production to manage inventory levels, so as to ensure employee safety until the transportation network returns to normal operating routines, he added.
