The 25-Tonne Plastic Collection Drive launched by BSG runs from 3rd to 9th October. The campaign will see Delhi-NCR members deposit their plastic waste at designated hubs, rather than throwing away irresponsibly. The plastics collected at hubs will be sent to recycling facilities, thus protecting the environment. The drive, part of the previously launched ‘Say No to Plastic’ campaign, has an ambitious target to collect and recycle 25,000 kilograms of plastic waste in the month of October 2023.
Vishesh Gupta, Chairperson, BSG stated that the campaign’s goal is to heighten awareness and promote sustainable living, which in turn will reduce the waste entering the local landfills.
The country had generated over 660,000 tons of plastic waste in 2019, out of which only 60% was recycled.
