According to company news release, the first bars weighed approximately 651 troy ounces comprising of about 22% of gold and 20.2% of silver. This was achieved through stripping of 2.5 of the Company's 10 carbon columns, which were loaded from residual leaching with a highly dilute cyanide solution.
The company intends to strip the remaining 7.5 carbon columns in the near future. Also, fresh cyanide will be introduced to a section of the leach pad, which has not yet been leached. This is likely to result in a higher gold percentage dore.
Commenting on the milestone achievement, Kelly Malcolm, CEO of Borealis said that the company is pleased to announce the first gold pour of 2024. The gold pour frequency will now increase as its strip the remaining carbon columns and start to put fresh cyanide on the leach pad. Also, the company is seeking contractors to crush a large 330,000 ton stockpile of ore, Malcolm added.
