SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Westminister, Colorado-based Ball Corporation announced 2030 sustainability goals that target to achieve a 100% circular aluminum beverage packaging system.
The company announced plans to work in partnership with leading beverage brands, retailers, and aluminum beverage packaging manufacturers and their suppliers to boost the recycling rate of aluminum cans, bottles and cups from the current rate of 69% to an ambitious goal in excess of 90%. It has also made 85% recycled content goal as part of its new sustainability plan.

Ball Corporation Plans to Build New Aluminum Can End Facility
In order to achieve its goals, Ball Corp. plans to develop a low-carbon roadmap for the entire aluminum beverage packaging sector. The company will also focus on additional investments in infrastructure and technology to boost the efficiency of its recycling system. A detailed multi-region recycling roadmap and carbon pathway plan will be published by next year, said the company press release.
John A. Hayes, chairman and CEO of Ball noted that the sustainability plan is expected to take a leading role in driving industry-wide solutions to the climate crisis. It aims to improve the environmental performance, social impact and economic returns of its business, Hayes added.
