SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Aurubis- the leading multimetal producer announced successful completion of Copper Mark Certificate process at its Olen, Belgium plant. This is the fourth Aurubis smelter site to receive the internationally recognized quality certificate for responsible copper production, following Pirdop, Hamburg and Lunen. Also, the company’s plants in Belgian Beerse and in Stolberg have also commenced the Copper Mark Certification process.
Commenting on the achievement, Roland Harings, Chief Executive Officer, Aurubis said that the company actively support the ongoing development of the Copper Mark as the standard of today’s global copper industry. He expressed pleasure on the successful step in Olen. The efforts emphasize the leadership role played by the company in sustainable multimetal production, he added.
Michele Brulhart, Executive Director, Copper Mark congratulated Aurubis on its additional successful certification and the commitment of the sites in Stolberg and Beerse.
The Olen recycling site produces copper cathodes and wire rod. It employs around 680 employees and is responsible for production of more than 275,000 tonnes of copper products every year.
