SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Aurubis, a leading multimetal manufacturer, announced the opening of a cutting-edge recycling facility at its location in Olen, Belgium. This is a significant accomplishment in the company's strategic roadmap as well as a significant addition to its global smelter network.
Metals like nickel and copper that are present in the electrolyte streams at the Aurubis sites in Beerse and Olen are recovered using a hydrometallurgical process by the contemporary, energy-efficient hydrometallurgical bleed treatment plant, also known as Bleed treatment Olen Beerse (BOB). A comprehensive tankhouse cleansing system is guaranteed by the bleed treatment.
Inge Hofkens, COO of Aurubis Group's Multimetal Recycling, commented on the breakthrough, saying that BOB shows the company's dedication to innovation and a circular economy. Recycling will advance as a result of the facility's ability to process valuable metals from dynamic and ever-changing input materials and recycling markets in an effective manner. Additionally, Hofkens said, it will bolster Aurubis' primary business.
The construction of the new facility cost about €85 million. Up to 30 new employment have also been created as a result of the initiative.
