SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Aurubis announced that its plant in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is ready for gradual resumption of production. The plant was badly hit by floods in the month of July this year, following which production was halted. The company has been carrying extensive cleaning and repair work, so as to make the site ready for operations again.

The company press release noted that it plans to restart manufacturing of certain strip products in a limited production capacity by early November this year. It declined to provide the tentative production restart for other products, as it is not sure about the exact completion of ongoing repair works. By mid-November this year, Aurubis plans to resume wire manufacturing operations as well.
Commenting on the development, Udo Nobel, Head of Flat Rolled Products Segment said that the quick resumption of production is primarily attributed to the relentless efforts of its colleagues and external service providers on site. He thanked the solidarity and assistance of the entire Aurubis Group in making things happen in such a short time. The damage to the property caused by the floods have been fully covered under insurance, he added.
