SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The American Biogas Council (ABC) announced it has appointed three new hires to support the strategic growth and development of the biogas industry—Hanna Hakenäs as Vice President of Training, Alycia Tolman as Director of Carbon Markets, and Tyler Shore as Director of Sales.
Hakenäs will lead the trade association’s training program, enhancing its existing curricula, and developing new courses to train today’s and tomorrow’s professionals in the US biogas industry. Tolman will lead the expansion of markets based on biogas systems’ carbon-reduction benefits, and how they are calculated and monetized. Shore will lead ABC’s sales team to help the council connect with brother and sister industries, while promoting the growth of its events, including the industry’s largest trade show, BIOGAS AMERICAS.
“We’re staffing up to meet the developing needs of our industry, which is expanding thanks to a growing appreciation of the benefits of using food waste, manure, sewage and landfill gas to make much-needed home-grown renewable energy,” said Patrick Serfass. “Adding this talent to our team will support the needs of our member companies, drive new business, and better prepare tomorrow’s workforce for success in biogas and carbon markets.”
Hanna Hakenäs brings over 15 years’ experience in renewable energy, most recently at Brightmark, where she established the asset management team for the company’s dairy renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities and set operational strategies to optimize asset profitability and support future growth. Additionally, Hanna brings significant experience from the wind industry, having worked for one of the largest owner/operators of wind energy assets globally, where she led large teams across operations, budget management, inventory management, and technical training.
Alycia Tolman brings nearly 10 years of utility experience at Consumers Energy, where she focused on renewable energy and decarbonization. During her time there, Alycia launched and managed the company’s first-ever voluntary renewable natural gas and carbon offset programs as well as other renewable offerings. Prior to her work on renewable energy programs, she led cross-functional teams focused on improving performance of the company’s highest priority metrics through the deployment of lean problem solving and process improvement methodologies.
Tyler Shore comes to the ABC with nearly 10 years’ experience in sports management and marketing, most recently as Director of Sales at P4S Golf, a company on the forefront of golf therapy, fitness, and performance. Prior to his work there, Tyler served as General Manager of the Battle Creek Battle Jacks, a team within the Northwoods League developmental league for elite college baseball players.
