SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (September, 13 to September 19, 2024) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The prices witnessed notable increase over the prior week. A few commodities held steady during the week.
The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, and 6061 Extrusions recorded the largest increase on the Index.
Prices for Mixed Aluminum Turnings increased by 8.70% from the previous week. From $0.46 per pound at the beginning of the week, prices increased by $0.04 per pound to close at $0.50 per pound on the index.

The price of 6061 extrusions and 6063 extrusions/Fe increased significantly as well, by 5.97% and 6.25%, respectively.
The only aluminum scrap commodities to maintain previous week price levels were Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers.
The regional scrap aluminum prices mostly edged higher when compared with the prior week. The top three gainers were Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, and 6061 Extrusions.
The prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire, 6063 Extrusions, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, Litho Sheets, Zorba 90% NF, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Breakage 50% Recovery, and Aluminum Radiators too recorded increase over the previous week.
In the meantime, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers prices held steady over the prior week.
The prices reported notable increase when compared with the week before.
The price of mixed aluminum turnings increased 8.89% during the course of the week, from $0.45 per pound at the start of the week to $0.49 per pound at the close.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions/Fe increased by 6.35% on a weekly basis, from $0.63 per pound to $0.67 per pound in the week that ended on September 19, 2024. Below is the weekly price chart for the commodity:
6061 Extrusions were up by 6.06% on a weekly basis.
All other scrap categories saw price increases during the course of the week, with the exception of Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers.
The regional prices of all scrap aluminum categories, except a few, posted week-on-week jump.
Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, and 6061 Extrusions recorded the highest jump in prices during the week.
The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings on the Index closed at $0.50 per pound, up $0.04 per pound. The commodity saw an 8.70% increase in price week over week.
6063 Extrusions/Fe prices increased from $0.65 per Lb at the beginning of the week to close at $0.69 per Lb.
Prices for 6061 Extrusions increased by 5.97% from the previous week. The commodity's price increased by $0.04 over the previous week. The weekly price movement for 6061 extrusions is seen in the chart below:
Al/Cu Radiators scrap witnessed the least increase, with prices recording modest week-on-week rise by 1.73%.
In the meantime, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers held steady upon comparison with the previous week.
The aluminum scrap commodities in the region reported modest jump in prices during the week ended September 19, 2024.
Old Cast and Old Sheet saw the biggest price increases. The prices of copper scrap in both of the aforementioned categories increased by 2.03% per week.

Old Sheet prices closed the week at CNY 17,600 per MT, upon comparison with the opening price of CNY 17,250 per MT. The weekly price fluctuation in Old Sheet is seen in the chart below:
The least decline in prices was seen in UBC. Comparing the closing price of CNY 12,350 per MT to the starting price of CNY 12,200 per MT, the commodity's prices showed a marginal gain of 1.23%.

The Aluminum ingots prices too were up, registering a week-on-week increase by 3.11%.
The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) witnessed no change during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
In the meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,538 per tonne as of September 19, 2024. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract recorded marginal increase from $2,520.00 a day before to $2,523.00 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined modestly over the previous day to close at 813,000 tonnes as of September 19, 2024, as compared with 813,500 tonnes a day before.
