SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (March 14 to March 20, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index is provided below:
There was a general downward tendency in the prices. All scrap categories, except a few, recorded decline when compared with the previous week.
The largest price drop of the week was seen in Breakage 50% Recovery, which recorded a decrease from $0.41 per pound to $0.40 per pound. The commodity saw a 2.44% weekly price decrease. Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe also reported modest decline in price over the previous week, falling by 1.92% and 1.37%, respectively.

6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wires, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC and Zorba 90% NF prices also reported decline over the previous week.
In contrast, no change in price was seen in Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers.
Meanwhile, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices edged higher by 2.56% and 2.87% respectively.
Breakage 50% Recovery prices recorded biggest dip over the week, registering 2.44% decline from $0.41 per Lb to $0.40 per Lb. Also, modest weekly declines by 1.92% and 1.37% were seen in Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe.
The rest of the scrap aluminium categories, except a few, recorded week-over-week decline.
The least declines were seen in 5052 Scrap and E.C. Aluminum Wire.
In the meantime, prices of Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers held steady during the week ending March 20, 2025.
Also, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices were up over the previous week’s prices.
The aluminium scrap prices in the region mostly edged lower over the previous week. The top three losers were Breakage 50% Recovery, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe.
The Breakage 50% Recovery prices ended the week at $0.39 per Lb, down from the previous week’s price of $0.40 per Lb.
Also, the week witnessed dip in prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe to $0.50 per Lb and $0.71 per Lb respectively.

The other commodities to register week-on-week dip in prices were 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wires, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC and Zorba 90% NF.
Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers held steady during the week.
Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices inched higher on the Index.
The prices of the region’s majority of scrap aluminum categories fell week over week.
The scrap categories to dip the most were Breakage 50% Recovery and Mixed Aluminum Turnings, whose prices recorded declines by 2.38% and 1.92% respectively over the previous week. 6063/Extrusions/Fe prices recorded fall from $0.74 per Lb to $0.73 per Lb, registering a weekly decline of 1.35%.

Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers recorded no change in prices during the week.
Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices were up by 2.54% and 2.84% respectively on the Index.
The Chinese aluminum scrap prices exhibited downward trend on the Index.
The scrap category to record largest decline was Aluminum Transformers. The prices of the commodity registered week-on-week decline by 0.53%. Please find below the weekly price chart of the commodity.
The prices of Aluminum Radiators recorded week-on-week decline by 0.50%, falling from CNY 9,950 per MT to CNY 9,900 per MT over the week.
The prices of Zorba 90% NF too recorded a similar week-on-week decline of 0.50%.
Also, marginal declines were seen in 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Aluminum Ingots, Old Cast, Old Sheet, and UBC prices over the previous week’s prices.
The prices of scrap aluminum utensils saw nominal decline during the week ending on March 20, 2025.
The prices of Aluminum utensil scrap were down by 0.39% week-on-week to end at INR 254,000 per Ton. The weekly price chart of the commodity is as follows:
The prices of Aluminum ingots also registered decline by 0.38%, falling from INR 264,000 per Ton to INR 263,000 per Ton on the Index during the week.
The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) remained constant during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,671.00 per tonne as of March 20, 2025. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract inched lower marginally from $2,687.00 a day before to $2,685.50 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined marginally over the previous day to close at 487,525 tonnes on March 20, 2025, down slightly from 489,125 tonnes on March 19, 2025.
