Aluminum Recycler Spectro Alloys to Invest in Expansion Project

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading Midwest-based aluminum recycler Spectro Alloys announced investment inn expansion project. The proposed $71 million investment is towards purchase of new aluminum recycling equipment at its Rosemount facility, which will boost its sorting and melting capabilities. The groundbreaking of the expansion project will be held next year. The project will become operational in 2025.

The project comprises of expansion of the Rosemount campus to nearly 42 acres and construction of a new 90,000-square-foot building along Highway 55. The initial phase of the project will boost the facility’s annual recycling capacity by around 120 million pounds and result in creation of up to 50 new full-time jobs in the region. Incidentally, the facility produces recycled aluminum billets and sheet ingots.

Luke Palen, President, Spectro Alloys stated that the company looks forward to the future and the opportunity to improve recycling in Minnesota, as it celebrates five decades of responsible aluminum recycling this month. The investment project will help Minnesota become better at recycling, he added.

As per estimates by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the state recycles only 45% of aluminum beverage containers.
