SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Austria-headquartered Alpla Group announced its decision to invest in an extrusion system for food-grade recycled PET made of used PET bottles at its Anagni, Italy site. The company plans to invest over 5 million euros in installing the system and in construction of the building to house it.
According to company press release, the proposed site in central Italy is home to the company’s key perform production plant. It processes around 50,000 tonnes of PET a year, out of which recycled material forms only a small proportion. The promised investment will result in a substantial portion to be supplied in the form of recycled material. The new extrusion system is expected to have the capacity to process approximately 15,000 tonnes of rPET per year.
