SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) will hold its steel summit for the year on 17th and 18th of November, this year. The virtual summit will discuss the future of the regional steel industry in a sustainable world.
The conference will feature speakers, comprising of experts from the region, who will focus on the current industry situation and also on the upcoming challenges and opportunities of the sector. The prominent speakers include Jeffrey Sachs , Director of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network; Xavier Sala-Martin , Professor of Economics at Columbia University ; Moises Naim, Director of Foreign Policy (1996 - 2010) ; and Luis Alberto Moreno , Managing Director of Allen & Co LLC.
Other speakers include Susan Segal, CEO, Council of Americas, Marcelo Spinelli, VP of Vale, Aditya Mittal, CEO, ArcelorMittal and Paola Rocca, CEO, Techint Group.
Alejandro Wagner, Executive Director of Alacero noted that the steel industry has always been in the forefront of bringing in revolutionary changes in the world. The regional industry has continued to be a key economic driver, supporting more than 1.2 million quality jobs across Latin America. The industry contributes significantly to the social, economic and technological development of communities and countries, he added.
