SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent weekly domestic production numbers released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) show that U.S. weekly raw steel production grew by approximately 0.70% for the week ending January 25, 2025. This is based on a comparison made between this week and the same week last year.
Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.641 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. The utilization rate of the domestic mill capacities was 73.7%. It is important to remember that last year, during the same week, production reached 1.629 million NT, but with a somewhat lower capacity utilization rate of 73.3%.

At a capability utilization rate of 73.8%, crude steel production generated 1.644 million NT during the week ending January 18, 2025, a just 0.2% decline from the previous week.
With 703,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. During the week, 505,000 net tons were produced in the Great Lakes region. North East-123, Midwest-245, and Western-65 are the other regions' productions (in thousand net tons).
As of January 25, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 5.878 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 73.9%. This represents a 1.0% increase over the same period in 2024, when production was 5.818 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 73.3%.
