SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced the launch of ‘Steel on the Map’ campaign. It highlights the numerous benefits and uses of sustainable American steel in everyday products.
Stories about AISI producer and associate member companies across the US are presented on the interactive map. The map shows the steel used in bridge construction across the nation, along with recycling programs and emerging decarbonization technology.
Kevin Dempsey, President and CEO of AISI, praised the campaign and expressed his excitement about its launch, which highlights the projects of AISI member companies across the nation. He continued, "Policymakers, consumers, and other stakeholders will find the map to be a helpful tool in learning more about steel's role as the preferred material for the clean energy revolution."
The United States has the lowest carbon dioxide emissions per ton of steel produced among the main steel-producing nations. Steel is still used extensively in the country's infrastructure. Steel is also the choice with the lowest environmental impact and a vital component in the engines of modern cars. The most recyclable material in the world is steel. Every year, between 60 and 80 million tons of steel scrap are recycled.
