SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly report for the month of July this year.
The total packaging papers and specialty packaging shipments declined marginally by 1% year-on-year in July 2021. The shipments during the initial seven-month period of the year were up marginally by 2%, compared to Jan-July ’20. The operating rate stood at 84.2%, whereas the mill inventories increased by 8,000 short tons from the previous month, AF&PA report said.

The total printing-writing paper shipments by the country have surged by 5% during the month, compared to the same month in 2020. The purchases of the material by the country were up by 9%. Over the prior month, the total printing-writing paper inventory levels registered marginal decline by 0.1%.
The shipments of uncoated free sheet (UFS) papers witnessed 7% year-on-year surge in July. Meantime, the inventory levels have dropped by 0.4% from June this year. The U.S. purchases of coated free sheets (CFS) edged higher by 3% over the previous year, while the inventory level increased by 2% from prior month.
The U.S. shipments of coated mechanical (CM) papers skyrocketed by 16%, with inventory levels witnessing 3% decline, compared to June 2021. The uncoated mechanical (UM) paper purchases increased by 28%, whereas the inventory levels were down by 4%, said AF&PA report.
