SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) announced winners of its 2021 Sustainability Awards. The awards recognize outstanding sustainability programs and initiatives in the paper and wood products manufacturing industry.
The winner of Leadership in Sustainability Award in Energy Efficiency/Greenhouse Gas Reduction was Georgia Pacific’s Quilted Northern brand, whose manufacturing technology is said to save 30% more water and use 30% less energy. WestRock’s Hazard Hunter Program won the Leadership in Sustainability-Safety award. Also, Greenbay Packaging was selected as the winner of Leadership in Sustainability award for Sustainable Forest Management.
The Leader in Sustainability-Water and Leader in Sustainability-Paper Recovery for Recycling awards were won by Essity’s Midwest team and New-Indy improved repulping systems at its Ontario, California mill. Alo, WestRock’s Scan.Learn.Recycle.Pizza Box Recycling Program won the award in ‘Paper Recovery for Recycling’ category.
Georgia Pacific’s innovations across the recycling supply chain and Sonoco’s EnviroSense PaperBlister Packaging were the winners of the Innovation in Sustainability awards.
