(Kitco News) - At least 18 people died in the collapse of an illegal gold mine in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province, according to local television reports on Sunday.
The collapse occurred on Saturday at 11 a.m. , but a search and rescue agency was not notified until the evening, Reuters news agency reported.
A rescue team reached the site late Saturday and found 18 victims, 16 men and two women.
