Galvannealed Steel Sheet

Characteristics

Galvannealed sheet is carbon steel sheet coated with zinc on both sides using a continuous hot dip process.  The zinc coating is harder than a regular galvanized coating and is more resistant to scratching and manufacturing damage.  However, the harder coating is susceptible to powdering if the sheet is severely formed during fabrication.Galvannealed sheet is specifically designed to be used in the painted condition.  When painted with properly selected primers and paints, the combined paint/galvannealed coating offers excellent resistance to peeling and/or blistering of the paint, compared with conventional galvanized sheet.Products manufactured using galvannealed sheet include:Vehicle components that require corrosion-resistance, Signs, Exterior partitions, covers, cabinets, Vending machines.

ASTM A653 galvannealed sheet  is corrosion resistant, excellent paintability, easy weldability, long life, no time or labor costs to prep for painting.The excellent corrosion resistance that results when the alloyed coating is painted is useful in many applications that demand long service life.  For example, painted galvannealed sheet provides excellent service when used on automobiles for both exposed and unexposed applications.  It is also specified for buses, trucks, and other vehicles where long life is important; ex: garage doors, highway signs, vending machines, air conditioner covers, wall partitions, cabinets, commercial refrigerators
