Communications Specialist in

Leads and coordinates internal and external communications and the development of the departmental communications plan. Develops and implements communications plan. Coordinates departmental responses to requests for public information. Prepares press releases. Oversees and develops department web content. Prepares responses to Council as needed. Serves as department spokesperson as needed. Attends Council, Board, and Community Action Council meetings and other civic group meetings. Designs or assists in the design of customer surveys and organizes focus groups. Acts as liaison with the Public Affairs department. Coordinates internal department communications.


Education-Bachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, or related field. Applicants may substitute additional relevant experience for the required education.
Experience-At least 5 years of relevant experience is required. Applicants may substitute additional relevant education for the required experience. Computer Skills-To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of MS Office and Word Processing software.
