QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science/engineering, or related subject. Master's degree or a professional designation like OHST, ASP, or CSP is desirable.
2. Broad based knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety regulations. Demonstrate in depth knowledge of environmental regulations for air, stormwater, Haz/Non-Haz waste, permitting and reporting.
3. A minimum of five years of experience working with EHS compliance and management systems preferably within facility operations. EHS experience in heavy industrial/construction industry is highly desirable.
4. Success working with contractors/vendors supporting mutual safety objectives.
5. Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
6. Basic computer skills with both word processing and database applications.
7. Verbal/written fluency in Spanish is a plus.
EHS Manager
The Safety, Health, Environmental, and Community Relations (SHEC) Manager directs the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SHEC systems. The SHEC manager will advise the management team on SHEC issues, evaluate potential hazardous situations and environmental impacts, conduct accident investigations, and ensure compliance with all SHEC regulatory and Company requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide leadership and support the development and implementation of SHEC management systems and compliance programs. Manage environmental compliance activities including permitting, inspections and reporting.
2. Assist all aspects of organization in behavioral based safety improvements.
3. Evaluate safety, health, and environmental risks/hazards and work with team to identify and implement prompt corrective actions.
4. Develop environmental, health and safety procedures and programs for company activities and monitors safety compliance to reduce risks.
5. Oversee inspection programs and perform regular EHS inspections.
6. Prepare/update materials and provide training for EHS training requirements.
7. Ensures required records are maintained according to company and regulatory requirements.
8. Ensure EHS policies and procedures are developed, updated, implemented, and followed.
9. Assist Operations Team in the accident investigation and communication process including the identification of root causes. Ensure corrective actions are implemented.
10. Assist the SHEC Director on projects related to areas of responsibility. Assist SHEC Team peers by serving as environmental point of contact supplementing environmental expertise throughout the region.
11. Drive the implementation of programs and initiatives necessary to foster a strong EHS culture.
12. Primary contact for EHS Regulatory Agency interaction.
