The opportunity:

To play an integral role in the Rio Tinto Aluminium (RTA) Business Analysis team and Strategy team challenging the business whilst at the same time generating value-accretive ideas.

Main responsibilities:

• Generate, identify, evaluate and build business cases for new business development opportunities and strategic initiatives
• Work with business units to structure business cases - valuation, cost effectiveness analysis (CEA), investment committee papers, risk analysis – for the investments to present to Rio Tinto Aluminium or Rio Tinto senior management
• Oversee financial modelling activities to support business cases and opportunities
• Support senior management in negotiating and executing projects
• Support RTA planning process by providing update on product group valuation, risk, asset ranking (for portfolio management), and strategy
• Conduct the capital planning process delivering a 5-year capital plan for the Product group
• Support senior management on business reporting activities and synthesis of information for communication
• Track and drive business performance
• Analyse and challenge of business performance across all operational, financial and support functions.

The work is highly strategic and requires a broad scope of industry, business, country, regional and operations specific research and analysis to create world class strategies, integrated business plans and value adding, commercial and operational decisions.
