BASIC FUNCTION: To perform maintenance on OTR trucks and trailers that includes but is not limited to tractors, roll-offs, van trailers, dump trailers, sweepers, water trucks, and service trucks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform engine, transmission, HVAC, and electrical diagnostics under limited supervision.
2. Communicate with drivers regarding vehicle condition reports and make appropriate repairs.
3. Completing repairs and parts replacements.
4. Completing written record and daily reports.
5. Maintaining a clean work and shop area.
6. Performing preventative maintenance on cooling systems, lights, HVAC, power train, brakes, hydraulics, sweepers, and trailer repair.
7. Perform safety inspections.
8. Perform diagnoses with scanner
9. Repair breakdowns on and off company property.
10. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment and fulfill required paperwork
11. Must be able to research and locate parts for repairs.
12. Work in conjunction with outside contractors on repairs and troubleshooting.
13. Ability to retro-fit or make modifications on parts for repairs.
14. Performs other duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Lift and carry loads of 50 pounds or more
2. Work from heights up to 10 feet.
3. Work from standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, and crawling positions.
4. The ability to climb and descend. Examples would include ladders, stairs, and catwalks to equipment such as tractors and trailers.
ENVIROMENT:
1. Works in shop and out-of-doors environments.
2. Is exposed to hazards inherent in scrap operations.
SAFETY AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:
1. When in the yard of operating machinery or tools, must follow position specific and general yard safety rules.
2. Must pass a post offer physical and drug test.
