The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Engineer - Geotechnical to be responsible for rock mass data collections, analysis, interpretation and geotechnical monitoring/design. This position is part of the Geotechnical team within the Mine Technical Services Group at Bingham Canyon Mine. The geotechnical team serves to provide operational support to mining activities by managing geotechnical risk.

For more than 110 years, Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich orebody of the Bingham Canyon Mine. What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity to manage the active geotechnical programs with all surface mining activities. Working a flexible schedule (weekends, nights, on-call
rotations) and reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, you will be:

• Taking the lead to ensure that safety initiatives are supported and geotechnical personnel are actively participating and compliant with the Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environment standards
• Planning, executing and analysing key geotechnical issues that affect Bingham Canyon Mine which includes Performance monitoring, Geotechnical hazard management and Slope reconciliation with design
• Handling geotechnical design work as needed to meet operational requirements which includes data consolidation, analysis, review and reporting
• Maintaining, reviewing and continuously improving geotechnical design process, design implementation and databases
• Handling role-specific accountabilities as captured under the Rio Tinto D3 standard and Slope and Dump Management Plan
