Job Summary
Uses marketing, community and government affairs skillsand content knowledge to promote and assist with contract management and potentialnew services for public sector customers and prospects in a designated area inthe Puget Sound. Uses a customer-focused marketing approach to retain andexpand business with current Waste Management customers. Assists in establishing and maintainingeffective working relationships with Waste Management’s operations in cities,counties, and special districts ensuring that existing, extended, and newcontracts are mutually beneficial for our customers and the Company.
Serves as a company representative with city solid wastestaff, local elected officials and community stakeholders. Works across theCompany, collaborating with operations, public education and outreach staff,customer service and billing to ensure an outstanding experience for our municipalcustomers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must beable to execute the following duties and responsibilities:
Manage existing contracts including relationshipmaintenance, issues management, contract terms, service offerings, priceincreases and extensions
Maintain and enhance customer relationships andsatisfaction through innovative strategies and involvement in the community.This includes but is not limited to: attending city staff meetings, publicfunctions, City Council/Board meetings and other community events andconducting community educational and informational outreach with targetedcustomer populations
Coordinate activities with other Waste Managementdepartments as necessary to deliver on contract and service expectations.Utilize contract management and audit tools to ensure contract compliance andoptimized contract value
Apply marketing, government and community affairs alongwith technology skills and tools for renewing existing contract and pursuingnew targets and shaping Request for Proposals (RFP’s) Develop communitypartnerships with elected officials and key community stakeholders that resultin positive press coverage and have a beneficial impact on the community andWaste Management
Skilled at mapping out a results-oriented political andcommunity strategy that ideally positions WM for pursuing and winning municipalcontracts
Coordinate, write, edit and manage all bid responses,including pricing analysis, reporting and other exhibits as required
Develop results-oriented marketing strategies withother WM departments that identify retention and growth opportunities thatinclude supporting strategies, resources and timelines necessary to accomplishgoals
Continue to build skills by participating in on-goingtraining offered by the Company
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Negotiation skills and experience with profitabilityanalysis required
Bid preparation and contract management stronglypreferred
Demonstrated organizational capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsincluding the ability to effectively deliver presentations to small and largegroups
