College degree in business, mechanical/metallurgical engineering or other technical discipline or equivalent business required. Up to 10 years experience in the scrap metal business & at least 5 years having facility wide management responsibility for manufacturing scrap purchasing and sales, and /or production required; also direct responsibility for the hiring and managing of union and non-union employees. Active in scrap trade associations and other related grade groups. Must be able to manage and motivate a large group of employees including union and non-union as well as maintain good working relationship with steel scrap suppliers and consumers and local government regulatory agencies.

 

• Manages plant operations (Ferrous & Non-ferrous) & maintenance for Feeder Yard. • Implements the health, safety and environment standards and oversees the day to day activities of the Safety Coordinator. • Responsible for labor relations. • Makes recommendations on major capital expenditures and plans major plant improvements and innovation projects subject to management approval. Plans and manages project related initiatives. • Develops strategies, business plans, budgets and programs to contain cost and to increase productivity. • Responsible for loading and shipping of ASR/Propat. Responsible for making recommendations for further cost improvements. • Responsible for staff to follow local rules and regulations. • Assists in the maintenance of leased property. • Implements corporate sponsored initiatives, including standardized production and budget forecasting/reporting for all departments. • Maintains accurate inventories. • Maximizes production while minimizing spending. • Responsible for maintaining relationships with various vendors. • Responsible for improving joint venture relationship with neighbors.
