Established in 1967, WMP has grown with its customers. With that growth has come increased expertise, capabilities, and state-of-the-art equipment. A visit to the WMP facility yields a vast array of workstations, laser and water-jet cutters, perforation machinery, press breaks, welding essentials, and much more, all executed by trained and skilled personnel. Today’s companies need immediate solutions, and they look to WMP to answer those needs.
Woven Metal Products, Inc., got its beginning in 1968 as a manufacturer of wire mesh internals, including chlorine filter leaf pockets for Dow Chemical worldwide. As the business grew, so did WMP, expanding their main areas of expertise into that of center pipes with wire mesh, cover plates, catalyst support grids and expander rings. As customers’ needs were met quickly, with an adherence to extreme quality, WMP was called upon to do more and began supplying other specialty internals including sieve trays, chimney trays, mixing trays, distributing trays and pipe spargers, among other things.
Again, as customers’ designs changed, WMP adapted and perforated plate began to replace wire mesh in many processes. To accommodate changing needs and enhance production, WMP added a Perforated Products Division utilizing CNC equipment. Today, this added technology allows WMP to furnish hundreds of customers with custom perforated products.
In 1974, WMP began to produce perforated scallops for UOP and expended even further into specialty internals. WMP never looked back. Forty-five years later, one can expect a great wealth of knowledge and experience in refining and petrochemical internals as well as custom fabrication and perforation. This experience allows WMP to work with many process licensors, refiners, turnaround groups, engineering groups, consultants and more to customize needed solutions.
FACILITY
WMP has improved its facilities over time, launching a massive full-scale upgrade in 2010, adding more than 15,000 square feet — this on the heels of an expansion in 2007. Additionally, individual work stations were centrally supplied with welding gasses, increasing productivity, speed and quality of the finished product. Today’s facility boasts a fully renovated main office as well as more than 100,000 square feet of shop space, with 26 feet under the hook, accommodating 30 tons or more. Customers can be assured that no job is too large, as WMP has the space and equipment necessary to complete the project.
EQUIPMENT
WMP houses various types of equipment throughout its facility. With state-of-the-art equipment, programming is conducted at the main hubs throughout WMP, and can also be done or edited from any machine terminal within the WMP facility, allowing for immediate, or even last-second changes. Because of this flexibility and technology, work can continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with or without personnel on-hand. The fully robotic equipment can also be programmed to perform non-stop, so regardless of customer tight timelines, WMP can meet the required demands. In order to continue to provide the best in quality products, equipment is constantly evaluated and updated as needed.
