About Company

Court Adkins, owner of WILDERIG, is accomplished in managing drilling, completion, and production projects for a variety of well types in locales throughout the Permian Basin. His tenacious attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude, coupled with an understanding of mechanical, wellbore and personnel issues, have equipped him to deal with any number of challenges. Court works with fellow associates and service providers to develop a course of action for a project, supervise the implementation, and manage the project as a whole.  Court began his oilfield career cleaning drill pipe and dressing handling tools at an Oil Field Rental Service Co. yard on McCarty Drive on Houston's east side. Following a desire to see how those tools were actually used, at the age of 21, he broke out as a Roughneck for Goldrus Drilling Company on their Rig 1, an Oilwell E3000, in Simpson County, Mississippi, where his first trip out of the hole was from nearly four miles deep.   Four years later, he graduated from Texas A&M in College Station with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, in the middle of the mid-80's bust, and then went to work roughnecking for Reading & Bates Drlg Co. on one of their self-contained platform drilling units, Rig 40, off the Texas Gulf Coast.   After three years of progressive field and office-based roles in Reading & Bates' Operations Development Program, Court first ran and then designed downhole tools for TAM International, Davis-Lynch (now Forum), Baker Oil Tools, and then Weatherford, where he was named co-inventor in four US patents. Between TAM and Davis-Lynch, there was a one-year stint as a ballast controller for Zapata Off Shore on their Lexington and Neptune semi-submersible drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.   Pursuing a desire to eventually work for an operator, Court joined Hunt Oil Company in 2001 and moved to Midland where he served as district engineer, helping look after their Andrews, Pecos and Upton County properties. In 2003, Court met Randy Ford of R.K. Ford & Associates and was tasked with designing, supervising and managing his clients' drilling, completion and production projects in over 20 counties across West Texas and Southeast New Mexico.   In 2012, Court looked back to the operator side to more completely hone his skills in horizontal operations; first with Apache Corporation, drilling Lower Cline Shale laterals in Glasscock County, where he was part of the team that cut drilling times almost in half and virtually eliminated wellbore stability issues; and then with Parsley Energy, first drilling and completing three science wells in the eastern Delaware Basin in Pecos County and then drilling and completing Wolfcamp laterals in the southern Midland Basin in Reagan and Upton Counties, all the while working to reduce costs, eliminate drilling problems, and increase the amount of proppant put away in each frack.   WILDERIG currently consists of Court Adkins, working in conjunction with talent-specific associates, selected according to project requirements. Court has been managing Permian Basin area projects since 2003.
