History of the company

The Westarp company in Beckum was founded in 1956 as a branch of the Bernhard Westarp KG company in Aschaffenburg by Alois and Bernhard Westarp. Walter Westarp Sr. took over the branch management in Beckum as an employee. Thus, the first cornerstone of a successful company history was laid on the company premises in Beckum an der Zementstraße. The branch in Beckum became Westarp Rohstoffhandel GmbH in 1963. 50% of the shares remained in Aschaffenburg and 50% in Beckum. Due to the growing company, the company premises on Zementstraße became too small. In 1966, a plot of land on the Nordring helped expand all of Westarp Rohstoffhandel GmbH's work. In 1977 the locations were relocated from Zementstrasse and Nordring to Ladestrasse. This location in downtown Beckum at the freight yard is still used by the company today as its business premises. In 1978 the Westarp company took over the Neubeckum company Pursch GmbH. The Pursch company was continued for two years and finally moved to the site on Ladestrasse in 1980. In 1987 Walter Westarp jun. Managing director and took over the shares of his father Walter Westarp sen.

Westarp Rohstoffhandel GmbH has been independent since 2006 and took over the Aschaffenburg shares after the description. Thomas Westarp has been running the company together with his father since 2014. The family business is successfully managed by the third generation.
