DESCRIPTION :

West Plains Mining is a privately owned company headquartered in Wabash, Indiana.

The company’s first operation, Kentner Creek Stone, is a true “greensite” quarry, which means the operation was started from scratch with no prior quarry development. In May of 2007, the first groundbreaking took place since this time millions of tons of material has been distributed/sold. Current development extends 205’ in depth with both open pit and underground mining taking place.

The Kentner Creek operation mines Silurian age limestone with the location being unique in geological terms versus surrounding operations of northern Indiana. It is the only operation in the region that mines predominately non-reefal (underwater reefs of the Silurian age) and non-outwash limestone. In simple terms, this means the limestone is of high consistency and quality.

USES:

Aggregate is utilized in a number of applications. In the United States the average American consumes 12 tons of aggregate directly/indirectly every year. Aggregate is in your roads, home, nutrition, fields and even making the electricity powering your computer cleaner to produce.

The limestone at the Kentner Creek operation is used in all construction applications such as asphalt, concrete, building and under drainage. In addition, stone from this source is utilized in agricultural and power plant flue gas desulfurization applications.
